SoC Best Practices Equity and Inclusion | Working with Neurodiverse Youth

There is a social justice movement that is occurring about the importance of being identified as neuro-divergent. In this training we review the definitions of neurodiversity and neurodivergence and discuss its connection to social justice and neurodevelopmental disorders. We will review the diagnostic criteria and assessment processes for neurodevelopmental disorders. Finally, we will discuss ways to adapt our practices to better serve all our clients.

Wraparound SoC | Practice Pillars NEEDS Training

One of the four pillars of wraparound practice is the identification and utilization of unmet need statements within the care planning process. Participants in this session will gain an understanding of unmet need statements as a tool for articulating the underlying conditions that give rise to the challenges faced by individuals and families. Participants will learn ways to use need statements to frame concerns held by youth and families in a way that speak to the “why” rather than simply the “what” of a situation. Participants will learn to use this framework in supporting teams to build effective help and support plans with families they get to serve.

SoC Best Practices | Animal Assisted Therapy: Principles & Application Part 1

This training provides clinicians with a broad overview of therapeutic relationships we share with non-human animals. Clinicians will learn how to distinguish between the types of formal and supportive roles that dogs, horses, cats, and other animals hold for clients. Attendees will be introduced to the growing body of literature on the human-animal bond as well as the ethical implications in Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT). Clinicians will be exposed to the basic principles of animal assisted interventions as applied to theoretical models as well as specific diagnoses. Clinicians will be introduced to treatment planning and outcome tracking to best support their work partnering with animals.
